Purpose:
The classification of revenues of financing schemes is suitable for tracking the collection mechanisms of a financing framework. It provides comprehensive information about revenue-raising (how and what type of revenues are raised by the financing schemes and - in combination with information on institutional units - from which institutional sector of the economy).
Main Applications:
Compilation of health expenditure and financing statistics and health accounts according to the manual A System of Health Accounts 2011 (SHA 2011). The classification is an integral part of the accounting framework for health financing provided by SHA 2011.
Main Users:
Compilers of health accounts (mainly National Statistical Institutes, Ministries of Health)

Methodology

Scope:
Final consumption expenditure of resident units on health care goods and services. Revenues of health care financing schemes, i.e. an increase in the funds of health care financing scheme, through specific contribution mechanisms.
