Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange
Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX) is an initiative to create and maintain technical and statistical standards and guidelines together with an IT architecture and IT tools. SDMX aims at standardising and modernising the mechanisms and processes for the exchange of statistical data and metadata among international organisations and their member countries.
SDMX is sponsored by seven international organisations including the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the European Central Bank (ECB), Eurostat (Statistical Office of the European Union), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), and the World Bank.
UNSD is a member of the SDMX Sponsors Committee and SDMX Secretariat, and participates in the SDMX Statistical Working Group and Technical Working Group.

UNSD acts as the secretariat and coordinator of the SDMX-SDG Working Group, tasked with developing SDMX structures for the Sustainable Development Goals indicators.

UNSD chairs and interagency working group that develops an implementation framework of the SDMX standard in the field of International Merchandise Trade Statistics (IMTS)
