Global Consultation on Guidelines on Integrated Economic Statistics |
The draft Guidelines on Integrated Economic Statistics has been developed in accordance with the request of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) in 2008 at its thirty-ninth session. This request was made in recognition of the user needs for coherent basic economic statistics and macroeconomic statistics in enhancing the story the statistics contain. |
The purpose of the handbook is to set out practical guidelines for advancing consistency, coherence and reconciliation of statistical information through the application of the methodology of integrated economic statistics. The Guidelines provides practical guidance and disseminates case studies and other practical material by sharing experiences in implementing an integrated statistical production approach in the national statistical systems using the System of National Accounts 2008 as the comprehensive conceptual framework. |
The draft Guidelines has been prepared as a collaborative effort of the Friends of the Chair on Integrated Economic Statistics composed of experts of statistical offices of United Nations Member States and international organizations. The current draft builds on the broad principles, conclusions and recommendations laid down in the 2008 UNSC Report (see reference below). |
The global review was undertaken in December 2010 - January 2011 to seek comments from senior management of statistical organizations whether the draft Guidelines has practical applicability for national statistical organizations at different stages of statistical development and operating in different degrees of centralized or decentralized statistical systems. |
This webpage contains the draft Guidelines, the Comment Form and supporting Statistical Commission documents. The comments received during the consultation will be made available online on this webpage. |
The draft Guidelines was submitted to the Statistical Commission at its forty-second session (22-25 February 2011, New York) that endorsed the Guidelines, reviewed the results of the global consultation and advised on their incorporation in the final document. |
