Explanatory note

This class includes manufacture of artificial or synthetic filament tow and staple fibres, not carded or combed. Manufacture of synthetic or artificial filament yarn, whether or not textured, high tenacity, multiple or cabled. Manufacture of synthetic or artificial nonfilament or strip (e.g. artificial straw). Exclusion: Manufacture of yarns of man-made staple is classified in class 1711 (Preparation and spinning of textile fibres; weaving of textiles). Manufacture of textured, plied, cabled or otherwise processed yarns from filaments, tow, staple or yarn not made in the same unit is also classified in class 1711.
