1730 - Manufacture of knitted and crocheted fabrics and articles
Explanatory note
This class includes activities in which products are actually knitted or crocheted whether by hand or with more or less complicated machines. It thus includes both manufacture of knitted or crocheted fabrics and of articles that are knitted or crocheted directly into shape.
Included is the production of warp knit and weft knit fabrics, flat or circular, with or without elastomeric yarn or rubber thread and also knit pile or terry fabrics.
Knitting or crocheting of wearing apparel and other made-up articles directly to shape is included in this class. This involves articles such as jerseys, pullovers, cardigans, t-shirts and other vests, panty hose, tights, stockings, socks and other hosiery.
Also included is the manufacture of wearing apparel of fabric knitted in the same unit.
Exclusions: Manufacture of knitted clothing from fabric not knitted in the same unit is classified in class 1810 (Manufacture of wearing apparel, except fur apparel).
Manufacture of orthopaedic appliances is classified in class 3311 (Manufacture of medical and surgical equipment and orthopaedic appliances).
