Explanatory note
This class includes manufacture of textile floor covering either in the piece or made to measure such as:
-carpets, rugs and mats produced by weaving, tufting, braiding, flocking, needle punching, etc., from yarns of wool, cotton, man-made fibres, jute, coco coir, sisal and similar fibres.
Exclusions: Manufacture of mats and matting of plaiting materials is classified in class 2029 (Manufacture of other products of wood; manufacture of articles of cork, straw and plaiting materials).
Manufacture of floor coverings of cork, rubber or plastics materials, even when textile backed, is classified by primary materials in class 2029 (Manufacture of other products of wood; manufacture of articles of cork, straw and plaiting materials), 2519 (Manufacture of other rubber products) or 2520 (Manufacture of plastics products), respectively.
Manufacture of linoleum and other hard surface floor coverings is classified in class 3699 (Other manufacturing n.e.c.).
