This subclass includes: - liquid biofuels derived from biomass and used in diesel engines These biofuels can be produced by: * chemical modification: producing a linear alkyl ester through transesterification of vegetable oils or animal fats with methanol * thermal processes, such as: ** gasification followed by Fischer-Tropsch synthesis ** pyrolysis followed by hydrogenation ** conversion of sugar to hydrocarbons using microorganisms (e.g. yeast) This subclass does not include: - mixtures of biodiesel with diesel oil, cf. 33360
