Discussion

[RB]: See 64211 Australia - Tramways operate both on roads and on their own special railways (sometimes termed light rail). Because they usually operate as transport systems quite distinct from road and rail transport, and are significant in many of the cities in which they operate, they probably should have their own class. US - Aerial tramway is defined as skilift-rope or cable in Utah, in Canada, tramway includes street railway. House of commons UK - includes rubber tire, rapid transit. RB - Addressing different use of the expression "tramway" would require too much redundant explanation . The exclusions in 64112 (now 64212) and text of 64211 (now 64311) are consistent and clear.

Decision

25/9/2001 - No change recommended.
