Description: UNSD, under the Data For Now initiative, organized a workshop on using geospatial and statistical data to produce three SDG 11 indicators: 11.2.1 on convenient access to public transport, 11.3.1 on the ratio of land consumption rate to population growth rate, and 11.7.1 on access to open public spaces. The national partners have identified these indicators in line with Morocco’s national priorities.

Description: ESCWA, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Arab States Regional Office, the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics, in collaboration with the High Commission for Planning of Morocco, the National Institute for Statistics and Applied Economics in Morocco and the Micro/Single Data Qualification Program for Public Use University of Minnesota, are organizing a regional workshop on population projections and use of microdata files in Arab countries. The workshop provides an opportunity to enhance the capacity of national statistical offices and UNFPA Population and Development focal points in the Arab region to produce accurate and timely official statistics in support of evidence-based policy-making and the SDGs implementation and monitoring. It aims to: - Introduce participants to the basic concepts and methods of population projections - Provide hands-on training on data analysis, demographic models and projection techniques - Improve understanding of population projection applications in policy development and planning - Facilitate knowledge-sharing among participants - Explore how to establish microdata files for public use.
Description: This Expert Group Meeting is convened in the framework of the second revision of the United Nations Recommendations on Statistics of International Migration, as requested by the Statistical Commission in its decisions 50/117 (2019) and 52/109 (2021), where the revised conceptual framework for statistics on international migration was endorsed. This meeting will bring together the group of experts on migration statistics, established by the Statistical Commission at its forty-ninth session in 2018. The outcome of this meeting is expected to be reported to the Statistical Commission for discussion.
