Description: The High Level Seminar for European Neighbourhood Policy East and Central Asia Countries will focus on informing the senior management of the NSIs of the key issues and developments in the field of statistics, especially at the European and international level, as well as their impact on the work of these NSIs. This seminar will also provide an opportunity for the management of the NSIs of these regions to discuss issues of common interest and to network.

Description: This course, presented by the IMF's Statistics Department, is intended to provide participants with a thorough understanding of the conceptual framework for the compilation of external sector statistics (ESS) (balance of payments and IIP) with practical guidance on the collection and analysis of these data. It comprises lectures, discussions, practical exercises, and case studies. The course will focus on compilation practices, including data sources that international accounts can draw on, as well as complex methodological issues related to specific balance of payments and IIP components. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss compilation difficulties they have encountered; and gain insights into the analytical use of the international accounts. The course will be delivered in English with simultaneous translation to Russian.

Target Audience: Officials whose main responsibility is the compilation of balance of payments and/or international investment position (IIP) statistics. Participants should be familiar with the methodology of the sixth edition of the Balance of Payments andInternational Investment Position Manual (BPM6).

Description: The international meeting is built on three parts, namely (1) measuring human mobility using mobile phone data, (2) compiling migration and tourism statistics using traditional data sources, and (3) project implementation using the UN Global Planform. UNSD, ITU, national statistical offices, other national agencies and other international institutes will work together to develop and test methods to estimate migration and tourism statistics in Georgia with use of mobile phone data from Georgian mobile phone operators. Thereafter, other countries will test these new methods, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Oman, Italy, the Netherlands, Columbia and Egypt.
