Classification Visualization

Visualization of CPC correspondences

This page provides a visualization tool to navigate across correspondences between contiguous versions of the same classifications. At the moment, the page only provides a visualization of the correspondences between the various versions of the Central Product Classification. This visualization tool shows the interlinkage of codes of CPC in consecutive versions: CPC Provisional – CPC Ver. 1.0 – CPC Ver. 1.1 – CPC Ver. 2.0 – CPC Ver. 2.1, in a chronological order (forward direction) or in a reversed order (backward direction). The interlinkage of codes is based on the existing correspondence tables that are available here.
Notes
For the correct interpretation of the visualization, please note the following:
  • The chart should always be read from left to right, starting from the initial code on the left and then progressively moving to the right.
  • In the chart, lines between two consecutive versions of CPC (e.g. from CPC Ver. 1.0 to CPC Ver. 1.1) represents a correspondence. Lines going across non-consecutive CPC versions (e.g. from CPC Ver. 1.0 to CPC Ver.2) represent possible links between the codes, but should not all be interpreted as actual correspondences. Users are strongly encouraged to check the description of the specific codes.
  • Information of the partial correspondences is not included in the visualization.
How to use it
Please select the classification and its version, then enter a specific code, and select the direction (forward means from older versions to later versions, backward means from later versions to older versions). Click “Visualize” to show the chart. In the chart, the columns represent different versions of the classification in sequential order, lines across contiguous versions of the classifications represent correspondences. Each code has a hyperlink to the detailed description of the code (in a new window).
