Capacity Development
Global Network Objectives of the Network

Main objectives of the Network
Foster Coordination: Facilitating coordination within and between National Statistical Systems, Resident Coordinator Offices / UN Country Teams, UN system entities, other international and regional organizations, and within regions (via Regional Commissions).
Build Collaboration: Building new partnerships and fostering synergies of the above actors and with actors from civil society, academia, and the relevant private sector by offering a tool for discussion, information sharing, and connecting colleagues from all entities at all levels.
Develop Capacity: Sharing knowledge and best practices, requesting and offering support by pools of experts, webinars and other events.
Connecting existing networks, initiatives, and intergovernmental bodies by providing a single and unique meeting place for the users and entities described above, the Global Network is able to provide a link between several pre-existing but not necessarily well-connected initiatives, networks, and intergovernmental bodies, including:
- UN Statistical Commission and United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM)
- Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities (CCSA)
- UN Geospatial Network
- UN Innovation Network
- Other data initiatives including e.g. UN Global Working Group on Big Data, UN Global Pulse, ITU's AI for Good, ECE's Machine Learning for Official Statistics
- Actors implementing the UN Secretary General's Data Strategy
