Global Calendar of Statistical Events

Description: The meeting will be jointly organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia (UNICEF-ROSA), and hosted by the Department of National Registration of the Government of Maldives, from 26 to 28 November 2019 in Maldives. In 2018, professionals active in civil registration in South Asia held the first meeting of the South Asia Civil Registration Network (CR8). The second meeting in November 2019 will focus on: areas of common concern to the civil registrars;  sharing of innovative practices; and, discussions on the mid-term review of the implementation of the Regional Action Framework for CRVS in Asia and the Pacific. The meeting will specifically include half day discussions on the legislative framework for CRVS, marriage registration, and the use of information and communication technology in civil registration. There will also be a site visit to explore registration processes in the Maldives.   >>>Link to meeting website.
