HLG-PCCB

Public consultation on the renewal of the Global Action Plan on sustainable development data

10 OCT - 7 NOV 2024

The outcome document of the 2024 UN World Data Forum in Medellín

The High-Level Group on Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB) has drafted a new outcome document to be launched at the UNWDF 2024 on the 15 November 2024 in Medellín, Colombia. It was a working title of CTGAP 2.0 and it is designed as a second-generation document of the original Cape Town Global Action Plan for sustainable development data (shorthand reference CTGAP 1.0) launched at the first UN World Data Forum in January 2017.

This outcome document contains context with other international documents (i.e. Global Digital Compact, Pact of the Future, ...), twelve new priorities organized under four areas, a new set of actions, common terminology and a mapping of all these elements between CTGAP 2.0 and CTGAP 1.0.

The consultation will run from Thursday, 10 October to Thursday, 7 November 2024 and a draft version can be found as follows:

The HLG-PCCB is holding this open consultation to seek inputs from a wider range of stakeholders and participants in the UN World Data Forum (UNWDF) representing the global community of data producers and users. The public and open consultation seeks to:

  • Understand awareness levels of the original CTGAP 1.0 and its usefulness to the community
  • Understand the anticipated benefits, expanded uses and enablers for the implementation of the CTGAP 2.0 are most important to the community
  • Collect comments on the twelve priorities and new actions presented in the CTGAP 2.0 and their mapping with the actions of CTGAP 1.0
  • Advice on naming the document and communicating it widely

The community is requested to share their opinions on these areas through the following questionnaire before Thursday, 7 November 2024:
