The lunchtime seminar organized by the Statistics Norway will provide a forum to discuss measurement issues related to the compilation of property price indices. The recent financial crisis, housing price bubbles and the subsequent collapse of housing markets point to the importance of compiling accurate and comparable property price indices across countries. The lunchtime seminar is organized in memory of Svein Longva, who dedicated his entire professional life to official statistics. He spent more than 30 years working in Statistics Norway, the last fourteen of which as its Director General. Svein Longva held distinguished positions in the international statistical community. During his professional career, he was concerned with the importance of having accurate measurement of property prices, a topic of high relevance today. Organizer: Statistics Norway
