5. Basic unit of writing	<previous - next>
Basic unit of writing = character. Characters represent either: Phonological entities - Vowel / Consonant / Syllable Morphological entities - Words Basic characters can be differentiated by markers, that can change their meaning or their phonetic value (sound). We call these markers diacritical sounds.
