Some important findings:

Women are having fewer children on average but with more women of reproductive age, world population continues to grow.

Population of 1.15 billion adolescents, living mostly in developing countries, is largest in history.

Population of people over 60 is expected to grow from 600 million to 1 billion in next 20 years, with many more older women than men.

Populations around the world are ageing as fewer children are born and people live increasingly longer lives.

Although women outnumber men in most regions, men outnumber women in parts of Asia.

Women represent a large proportion of international migrants---an estimated 56 million women out of a total of 118 million migrants.
