A novel key feature of the update of the 2008 SNA work programme is the explicit inclusion of a component on experimental estimates for some of the recommendations in the guidance notes. Not all the guidance notes under research will be subject to experimental estimates and nor they are universally applicable to all countries.
A pool of volunteering countries selected from the all the regions and with representation from distinct levels of statistical development will be offered technical support to assist them with the early implementation of the selected recommendations with the goal of producing experimental estimates.
The experimental estimates will be developed following the practical guidance described in the guidance notes, which could include references to existing guidelines on the compilation of statistics. A call to express interest to participate in this process will be sent from UNSD to the compiling agencies during 2022.
