The countries with languages without a UNGEGN-accepted conversion system are mainly located in the margin of on the former Soviet Union. Although the amended Beirut system for the conversion of Arabic to Roman scripts has been accepted in 1972, due to the fact that the pronunciation of Arab differs from
country to country, this system has not been implemented yet in most Arab-speaking countries.
