Secound Roundtable Report

Objectives:

As co-chair of the UN Legal Identity Agenda Task Force (UNLIA TF), UNDP is cognizant of the enormous expansion in the use of digital technologies in UN Member State governments' registration of vital events and management of peoples' identity in recent years. With increasing demands from the Member States to provide support on digital legal identity technology, UNDP needs to be informed on developments in the private tech sector identity space that will affect public management of identity in years to come. In order to engage with the private technology sector more formally, UNDP is organising an online roundtable session, where both the UN and the private sector can learn from each other on how technological innovation will affect and influence the debates around the future of identity management institutional governance of civil registration and identity management. The event is planned for 18th and 19th May, 2021, and will be virtually hosted on the Zoom platform. Note: Please note that the purpose of the event is strictly policy dialogue. Engaging with individual private sector entities in this dialogue does not commit UNDP or the wider UN Legal Identity Agenda Task Force to any endorsement of the participating companies or their products.

Participants:

While the event welcomes anyone who is interested, the objective of this meeting is to foster dialogue between UNDP and the private technology sector. Speaking roles, therefore, will be largely given to representatives from the private sector.

Format:

This is an online round-table session where the facilitator shall encourage participants to present their views on different thematic topics.

Registration:

Prior to the event, participants are requested to register using the attached form, which includes a set of survey questions. Based on the answers provided, the facilitators may request certain speakers to present their views prior to the event, and therefore please fill in the survey questions as much as possible. Registration will be open until 18th May 2021 but if you would like to speak during the sessions, we strongly encourage you to register by 2nd May (Sun). Register here
