Technical note |
Index numbers of share prices are based primarily on common shares traded on the leading exchange or exchanges of each country and are intended to cover a representative sample of the companies registered.
The indexes are intended to show the increase in value accrueing to an investor who bought in the base period a list of shares corresponding in selection and amount to those contained in the index, who subsequently made only such changes in holdings as the subtitution of new issues for retired issues, and who retained, in the form of shares, the proceeds of all rights, warrents and share dividends made available since the base period. |
