United Nations Workshop on Census Data Evaluation for English Speaking African Countries
Kampala, Uganda, 12–16 November 2012
The objectives of the workshop are to strengthen the technical capacity of the participating countries to evaluate the quality of their census data and identify any errors. Over the course of the workshop, some of the most commonly used techniques for the assessment of data relating to the age and sex structure of the population, fertility, mortality, migration, and socioeconomic characteristics of the population will be covered. In doing so, the workshop aims to draw participants’ attention to the importance of data evaluation as a step in the census process, as well as to provide them a hands-on opportunity to practice the fundamentals of conducting a census evaluation through demographic analysis. The workshop will also provide a forum to discuss national practices and to exchange experiences among the participating countries.
