The National Statistics Office of Mexico (INEGI) appended the EDGE module to the National Household Survey in 2015. The members of the principal couple were interviewed separately about the principal dwelling, agricultural land, livestock, agricultural equipment, real estate, financial assets and liabilities owned by any member of the household.

A nationally-representative two-stage stratified sampling design is employed for the NHS based on cartographic and demographic information taken from the 2012 Population and Housing Census. The NHS is administered to 16,000 households per quarter for a total sample size of 64,000 households. The EDGE module was appended to the NHS in the third quarter and administered to a sub-sample of 8,000 households randomly selected from the 16,000 households receiving the NHS.
