The development of the Water Accounts in Chile is an initiative of the Commission for the National Environment in order to integrate environmental accounts (relating to resources country's natural) to the system of national accounts. The basic objective of the consolidated Accounts of Water is integrally ordering information (physical and monetary) relating to water resources in a coherent and useful to guide their management economic criteria in the medium and long term. The Water Accounts analyzes three key aspects: quantity (including the origins of water in the territory studied, variations in stock of water in time and the main uses of water); quality (of a certain volume of water are associated with quality indices based on the quality requirements for various uses), and monetary flows associated with the management of water (including accounts of expenditure / income, the agents of water services and funding for these services, stocks of water accounts and transactions of water rights).
