Dr Salah AlMuzahmi is the Director of Research & Development Indicators department at the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat) since March 2017. In this role, he is responsible for SDGs, as well as improving the range of research produced in GCC-Stat.
Before joining GCC-Stat, Dr Salah worked in the Oman Ministry of Health for 25 years, was the Deputy Director General of Planning & Studies and the Director of the Department of Health Information and Statistics. In these positions, he had an active role in health and statistics in areas such as The Oman Five Year Health Plan, Introduction of Health Insurance, and Maternal Mortality. Dr Salah was also the national surveys coordinator for many health related surveys.
Dr. Salah received his Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia (2015). His doctoral thesis studied mortality patterns in Oman via in-depth review of epidemiological and demographic patterns. He also has a Masters in Public Health, from Curtin University of Technology in Australia and a B.S. in Mathematics and Computing from Sultan Qaboos University in Oman.
