Javier Teran is Statistician at UNOCHA and member of the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX) team since 2014. HDX is OCHA’s open platform for sharing data about humanitarian crises (https://data.humdata.org). Javier started his career with the United Nations in 2001 as Statistician at the UN Statistics Division in New York where he worked on a system monitoring the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals. From 2004 to 2010, Javier served as Statistician at the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria. He was in charge of satellite based crop assessments and crime statistics. In 2010, he returned to New York as Statistician at the Information Management Unit of The UN Department of Field Support where he developed Business Intelligence models to evaluate the UN Human Resources reforms within the UN field missions. Javier is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
