Georges-Simon Ulrich was appointed Director General of the Federal Statistical Office by the Federal Council on 1 October 2013. The Business Administration PhD graduate studied in Switzerland, the USA (University of Virginia, Darden Business School) and in Australia. He obtained his PhD at the University of Southern Queensland specializing in stakeholder management and communication. G.S. Ulrich is also a professor of strategic management and research methods at the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich. Between 1992 and 2010, he was a business executive in the field of market and opinion research, holding several senior posts. From May 2011 to September 2013, G.S. Ulrich was director of the LUSTAT statistical office in Lucerne.
