Fernando Perini is a Senior Program Officer at Canada 's International Development Research Centre (IDRC), where he coordinates the Open Data for Development (OD4D) Program. OD4D aims to scale open data solutions that have been proven to work in the developing world. The OD4D network of implementing agencies include the Web Foundation, Open Data Institute, Open Knowledge, and leading regional and local partners committed to the creation of locally-driven and sustainable open data ecosystems in developing countries. The program is hosted at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), and co-funded by the Global Affairs Canada and Hewlett Foundation.
Fernando co-organize the International Open Data Conference, which gathers more than thousands of participants from 80+ different countries to understand the global impact of open data, coordinate action, and share best practices. Perini has extensive international experience as researcher, consultant and lecturer. He holds a PhD from the University of Sussex in the management of technology and innovation.
