Keiko Osaki-Tomita

Biography

Keiko Osaki-Tomita was appointed in 2019 to the President of Tokiwa University and Tokiwa Junior College, located in Mito, Japan. Prior to the current position, she had thirty years’ professional career with the United Nations, responsible for research on population dynamics, international migration, gender and social integration, as well as the development of statistical systems. Between 2009 and 2018, she held the position of Assistant Director and Chief of Demographic and Social Statistics Branch, Statistics Division at the United Nations, and was involved in the development of SDGs indicators for the purpose of SDGs monitoring. She continues to serve as a member of the United Nations Expert Group on International Migration Statistics. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Fordham University, U.S.A. and a M.A. in Demography from Georgetown University, U.S.A.
