Babalwa Mpho Nyangintsimbi

Biography

Babalwa Mpho Nyangintsimbi is a Deputy Director in the Social Statistics Chief Directorate at Statistics South Africa, where she is responsible for providing technical support to producers of gender statistics across Government, data analysis and gender related research. She graduated from the University of Free State (South Africa) with a BCom (Hon) degree in Statistics. She is currently working on a MSc degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics: Implementation Science at Wits University.

Her work experience at Statistics South Africa includes gender mainstreaming and the production of multi-thematic statistical reports on gender and marginalised groups. She is a member of the African Gender Data Network, which provides an opportunity for information sharing and mutual learning for the ultimate development of gender statistics in Africa. She has also a member of the National Strategic Planning – GBVF, which work on addressing challenges of violence and femicide faced by women in South Africa.
