Purpose: Profile America's Stats for Stories provides links to timely story ideas highlighting the Census Bureau's newsworthy statistics that relate to current events, observances, holidays, and anniversaries. The story ideas are intended to assist the media in story mining and producing content for their respective audiences.

Mode of implementation: A website supported by an email and SMS contact list. Registered users are contacted through email and SMS.
Outcomes: Growth in subscribers to the SFS GovDelivery email listserv and visitors to web pages have been even more impressive. In September 2016, when tracking visits to the SFS site began, there were 2,150 visit. By March 2020, visits had grown to 30,698. When emails blasts began two years ago, there were 22,000 subscribers on July 5, 2018. A recent blast went to 120,674 subscribers.
Challenges: Challenges include 1) adding new SFS to the lineup and 2) posting at least 2-3 weeks before the observance date(s). For example, just this year (2020) Community Colleges Month, National Maritime Day, Day of Portugal, and Juneteenth were added. There could be 100s of new SFSs if every country's national or national day were included. It is also a challenge to post content ahead, but not too far ahead of time. If posts get too far ahead, say 30 days, there is the risk of stats being updated before the observance, which would require an update and rework.
