Learn from experts about the statistical literacy inventory developed by GIST

The Global Network of Institutions for Statistical Training (GIST) has initiated a new series of webinars on statistical literacy called GROW.

The first GROW webinar showcased the statistical literacy inventory assembled and publicized by GIST. The speaker presented the initial idea of it, how to navigate it and provided a few concrete examples.

Speaker: Bianca Walsh (IBGE — Brazil)

Bianca Walsh is a technical assistant to the Director of the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE) of IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). She represents IBGE in the Global Network of Institutes for Statistical Training (GIST) and is co-leading the Task Team 3 on statistical literacy. She is also a member of the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics, particularly working with the Task Team on Training, Competencies and Capacity Development.

Moderator: Vibeke Oestreich Nielsen, UNSD

Vibeke Oestreich Nielsen is an Inter-Regional Adviser on Statistical Training and Capacity Building at the Development Data and Outreach Branch, Statistics Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs. She has the main responsibility of fulfilling Statistics Division's role of secretariat for GIST.
