Open consultation on the Global Data Community's response to COVID-19

5 AUG - 10 SEP 2020

Introduction

The High-Level Group on Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB) has drafted a short statement representing the Global Data Community's response to COVID-19 that presents the main issues facing the community at this time, the key actions the community should pursue around data and commitments for the future.

The consultation will run from Wednesday, 5 August to Thursday, 10 September and a draft version of the Global Data Community's response to COVID-19 can be found below:

The HLG-PCCB is holding this open consultation to seek inputs from a wider range of stakeholders and participants in the UN World Data Forum (UNWDF) representing the global community of data producers and users. The HLG-PCCB wishes to measure whether the community can associate themselves with the Global Data Community's response to COVID-19 and the issues, actions and commitment contained within it. The community is requested to make their opinions known on the statement that will be launched at the 2020 virtual UNWDF through the following questionnaire:

Until Thursday, 20 August, this questionnaire will allow respondents:

  • to vote on an appropriate tagline for the outcome statement to be used widely in the communications for the 2020 virtual UNWDF
  • to suggest high-profile speakers for the three plenary sessions of the 2020 virtual UNWDF on the key themes of data use, trust and to leave no one behind.
