Adopted by the United Nations Statistical Commission, the Recommendations on Tourism Statistics (IRTS 1993) assist governments and businesses involved in tourism in preparing prepare appropriate policies and programmes. The recommendations help to establish clear standards for measuring tourism. Includes the Standard International Classification of Tourism Activities (SICTA). IRTS 1993 is a copublication of the UNWTO and the United Nations.
