Additionally, there are a number of international research projects for the application of small area estimation in official statistics. The projects were carried out collaboratively by researchers, national and international statistical offices and governmental agencies. Bayesian methods for combining multiple Individual and Aggregate data Sources in observational studies (BIAS) | 2005-2008, 2008-2011 | The project aimed to develop, among others, statistical frameworks for combining data from several data sources. One part of the first program and the second program focused on small area estimation. For the developments, Bayesian hierarchical models were used. |
Enhancing Small Area Estimation Techniques to meet European needs (EURAREA) | 2001-2004 | The project aimed to evaluate standard small area estimation approaches and develop new methodology where needed. The developed theory was made available in a SAS application. |
