Introduction

During Hurricane Irma the location of the servers were secure due to how and where they were built as part of risk assessment.

The Government of Anguilla, in principle has a centralised Information Technology operation that is the Government of Anguilla information technology resources and operations are centralised and supported by a specific department. . When designed about 20 years ago, the location and structure of the servers and other network resources, which supports the entire government’s information systems and services, were taken into consideration.

The structure

The computer server room is located in the Government’s main data centre. The room is a concrete, windowless, fully air-conditioned room with and uninterruptible power supply system. The data centre is served by a double failover backup emergency generator system.

The administration

All government Departments are connected to the centralise system, which allows them to save and retrieve their files and information once stored on the server from any computer within government which is attached to their login and password permissions. The procedures of the Anguilla Statistics Department is that all files of the ASD must be saved on the shared drive; a location on the central server allocated to the Department.
