Use of vital statistics for educational planning with special reference to South Asian countries

Importance of civil registration system
The article outlines the possible uses of vital statistics based on civil registration for educational planning, such as to estimate and/or project on student population for small areas.

The article also provides insights on how the following South Asian countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka - could use their civil registration and vital statistics to conduct educational planning.

The article was presented at the East and South Asian Workshop on Strategies for Accelerating the Improvement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Systems in 1993.
