Mr. Stefan Andersson is Head of the International Cooperation Office at Statistics Sweden, which he joined earlier this year. The International Cooperation Office is charged with managing Statistics Sweden 's engagement in capacity development.
Mr Andersson 's professional career covers several countries. Prior to taking up his position with Statistics Sweden he has been working in the area of development cooperation for a number of years in many different fields. He started out as a monitoring consultant based in Brussels. His first posting was at the Embassy of Sweden in Botswana where he inter alia worked with Sweden 's support to regional cooperation and the fight against HIV and Aids. After that, he has been working in Mali where he amongst other things was the Co-Chair of the Development Partner Statistics Group. His last work outside Sweden was in Kenya where he managed a health support portfolio together with support to Public Financial Management Reform (PFMR) and chaired the Development Partner Group on PFMR reform.
In between working outside of Sweden, he has mainly worked at the headquarters of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Here he has held positions such as Lead Specialist and Advisor on Results Based Management and been involved in internal business development projects.
He holds a Degree of Master of Social Science in Political Science and Sociology from Lund University, Sweden. He conducted parts of his studies at the Institut d 'études politiques , Bordeaux France.
