Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri is the Executive Director of the Terrestrial and Marine Biodiversity Sector. She leads the team that is working to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the status of the Emirate 's biodiversity, to protect and enhance ecosystems and to support species conservation. She holds a PhD in the Conservation of Endangered Species from the University of Aberdeen, UK, a Master 's degree in Biology Conservation from Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology, University of Kent, UK and another Master 's degree in Environmental Sciences from United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain. Her thesis explored the water quality requirements for Brine shrimps, which are essential for the Greater flamingo, in Abu Dhabi 's Al Wathba Wetland Reserve.
