Rose Funja is the founder and Managing Director of Agrinfo Company limited and co-founder of She codes for change social enterprise. Prior to establishing her own organizations she worked in academia up to May 2016 as Director of ICT and Research at the University of Bagamoyo, where she also lectured in ICT courses. She also served as Dean 2013- 2015 at the college of Science, Informatics and Built environment. Rose kickstarted her career at Huawei Technologies International in China as a Product Solution Engineer on wireless technologies. In this role she pioneered projects in various countries and regions including China and East and Southern Africa. Rose has been actively involved in Rotary and served as the Kwanza Club President 2005 at the University of Dar es Salaam.
Rose holds a Masters in engineering in Information and Communication systems from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China PRC, and a bachelor in computer engineering and information technology from University of Dar es Salaam. She is a Mandela Washington Fellow 2014 --(a Young African leadership initiative program by President Obama) in which Rose, attended Public Management track course at Syracuse University in New York.
Rose 's focus on use of Information and technology in solving community challenges especially in agriculture where she is pioneering the use of drone for agriculture. She is currently working in partnership with We-Robotics and US -- International Food Policy Research Institute on a maize pre-harvest loss research project in Chemba- Dodoma region, using satellite and drone imagery.
