Pietro joined the GRI Secretariat in 2010. As Head of Sustainable Development, his primary focus is the inter-departmental coordination of sustainable development programs, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Business and Human Rights, Climate Change and conducive policy environment for Small and Medium Enterprises and supply chain reporting. He ensures strong and dynamic engagement with Governments, International Organizations and other strategic partners. Pietro has been leading GRI activities related to policy and regulation on corporate sustainability and reporting at national level, as well as major global and regional policy processes, including the Rio+20 Conference, the EU directive on Non-Financial Reporting and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Before joining GRI, Pietro worked for the Italian Section and the EU Institutions Liaison Office of Amnesty International on the issues of corporate accountability for human rights violations and International Financial Institutions ' impact on human rights. Right before moving to Amsterdam he worked in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Team of Autogrill S.p.A., a large Italian multinational company, contributing to the definition of the Group Sustainability Policy and Sustainability Report.
Pietro grew up in the South of Italy and lived in Rome, Strasbourg, Milano, Brussels and Amsterdam. He graduated in Public European and International Law at LUISS University in Rome, Italy. He holds a Master in Management and Governance of Non Profit (LUISS University), a Master in Corporate Citizenship (Fondaca, Sant 'Anna di Pisa, Boston College) and a Master in Economics and Management of Environment and Energy (Bocconi University). In 2015, he participated in the Centre for Creative Leadership (CCL) Leadership Development Program in Singapore.
