1. Director General of the Economic Statistics,
National Center of Statistics and information -- Sultanate of Oman.
2. Multisector statistics Advisor at METAC (IMF), Beirut, Lebanon.
He was responsible for technical consulting programs, training and technical support department in the field of statistics for the statistical agencies, central banks and ministries of finance of 14 Middle East countries. As an international consultant, he provided direct consulting to those countries.
Previous positions:
Member of the board of Directors of the Development Bank of Oman.
Member of the board of Directors of the Omani Company for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Chairman of the executive board for the International Comparisons Project/ESCWA, Beirut.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Arab Institute for Training & Research in Statistics./ Jordan (2012), and member of the Board of Trustees.
The only Arab member in the International Committee for the balance of payments/ IMF/ Washington (2009-2013).
Head of the GCC team concerned with the preparation of the general framework for the GCC statistical strategy (declared in Abu Dhabi Summit 2010).
Member of the UN International Committee which is responsible for the study of the hindrances to the implementation of the national accounts in the world.
He participated as a lecturer , and submitted working papers in several international and regional conferences.
Regional and international participations:
He headed and represented the Ministry of National Economy of Oman in several meetings and international statistical conferences.
He participated as a main speaker and lecturer in multiple international and regional conferences.
Performances:
He contributed (with others) to the development of statistics in Oman. As a result, the Omani statistics obtained an advanced evaluation in the ROSC mission which was carried out by IMF in 2004.
He (with others)established the grounds and supervised numerous statistical surveys, including the annual economic survey of the economy of Oman, foreign investment survey, economic confidence survey, Salalah visitors survey, tourism survey, regular survey for the prices of consumption, wholesale and the locally produced goods (inflation) as well as the realty survey.
He supervises the release of the statistical and economic indicators, he also supervises the release of more than 16 regular bulletins.
He participated in the qualification of the Omani cadre.
He (with others) took part in the development of the quality of statistical indicators. He also invented initiatives and contributions in the field of statistics.
He introduced the statistical analysis within the work of statistics in Oman.
Honoring:
On the occasion of the International Day of Statistics, He was honored in October 2010 by the ESCWA for his international and local contributions.
He was honored in 2009 for excellence by the Statistics Consulting Committee (Oman).
