Claudia Ah Poe is the Head of Needs Assessments and Senior Food Security Advisor at the UN World Food Programme, the world 's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security.
Claudia has worked for more than 15 years in conflict, post-conflict and transition settings analysing needs, designing and monitoring responses, strengthening analysis capacities in countries such as Syria, Yemen, Sudan and Liberia. She is one of the lead authors of the WFP study: "At the Root of Exodus: Food security, conflict and international migration".
Mobile technology is one of the main tools used by WFP to collect data and share information with the most vulnerable populations in the world. Claudia has set-up a remote monitoring systems across countries in the Middle East to monitor the impacts of large scale humanitarian assistance programmes. More recently, she led the conceptualization and development of the migration pulse initiative, which uses web-based surveys to give a voice to the displaced.
Before joining WFP in 2002, Claudia worked at government, non-governmental and research institutions in Mexico, Samoa and Germany. She holds a MA in Development Management from the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy, and an MSc in Geography from the University of Bonn.
