Title: Tax Statistics in South Africa

Abstract: The paper provides an overview of the tax statistics as published by the South African Revenue Service and National Treasury. South Africa is considered to be an emerging economy and is member of the economic block “BRICS”. It has an abundant supply of natural resources, which are mainly exported. The key challenges facing the country are recovery from the recession, as well as addressing post-apartheid structural problems related to unemployment and lack of skilled labour.
