Feasibility of Welfare-Oriented Measures to Supplement the National Accounts and Balances--A Technical Report

Series: F, No. 22
Sales number: 77.XVII.12
Languages:Click for help *[English]*[French]*[Russian]*[Spanish]
This publication had its origins in the growing interest in measuring the levels of living or well-being of populations and in the widespread consensus that monetary measures of output and income fail to capture important dimensions of welfare. It provides a survey of the problems arising and the work done to date in devising welfare measures to supplement the national accounts and balances. Included are chapters on aspects of the household economy, intermediate and final expenditures of general government, measures of environmental conditions and pollution, measurement of assets and approaches to international comparisons.------ Out of print.
