Abstract

This Guide focuses on the main aspects of globalization and recommends solutions and best practices aimed at improving the design, processing and use of the data and achieving better international consistency in the identified problem areas. It examines how globalization affects the compilation of economic statistics in general and national accounts in particular. It deals in detail with multinational enterprises and the allocation of output and value added to individual country. It also discusses, inter alia, the treatment of merchanting, goods sent abroad for processing and international transactions in intellectual property rights.
