Abstract

Since the new standard methodology BPM6/ESA2010 requires full consistency of Balance of Payments (BOP) and National Accounts (NA) statistics, an assessment of the consistency between the balance of payments (BOP) and the rest-of-the-world (ROW) account in the national accounts appears justified. Since September 2014 European BOP statistics is compiled according to the international standard BPM62, following the earlier implementation of the European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA2010) in national accounts statistics. This paper gives a brief update on the current situation of inconsistencies in European BOP and NA statistics, based on latest data evidence of April 2017.
