2008 Malawi Population and Housing Census

Malawi will conduct a census from 1-21 June 2008. The country has completed mapping of the enumeration areas and is currently printing the EA maps to be used in the census enumeration. Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) census questionnaires have been printed and ready to be pre-tested on 10th March to 21st March 2008. Final questionnaires will be ready by 12th April after revisions from the pre-testing.

Publicity is currently underway. Sensitization workshops for the main census already started last year with the journalists, civil societies, NGOs, District commissioners, faith based organizations and the general public. More such workshops are planned from 4th March onwards. Malawi plans to have enumerator interviews as opposed to self enumerations.
