Demographic and Social Statistics
Meetings
Overview
The webinar will showcase practical experiences and methodologies in the integration of geospatial data and data derived from different sources for the preparation and implementation of a population and housing census, and for the dissemination of its results. It will demonstrate how geospatial information can serve as a common reference framework for linking census units with population, building and address registers, cadastral data and other administrative sources, thereby facilitating the transition from field-based enumeration to combined or register-based census approaches.
The webinar will also present emerging geospatial data sources—including high-resolution satellite imagery, drones (UAVs) and mobile phone data (MPD)—and their potential applications for census planning, geospatial integration and the production of population estimates in areas where field enumeration is difficult or not feasible.
Through three technical sessions featuring country experiences and methodological guidance, participants will gain practical insights into implementing Revision 4 of the Principles and Recommendations for Population and Housing Censuses and strengthening integrated population data systems through the effective use of geospatial information.
