Iurie Mocanu
Deputy General Director, National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova
Iurie Mocanu is the Deputy Director-General of the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova, with more than 25 years of experience in official statistics. Since 2016, he has overseen the legal unit, strategic planning, economic and business statistics, and quality management. He is an active member of international expert groups focused on data governance and business statistics. In 2019, he led a survey on women's entrepreneurship and is currently leading a project aimed at mainstreaming gender into business statistics, which seeks to explore the potential of available sources for generating new gender statistics. Since 2022, he has played a key role in transposing the EU acquis Communautaire on official statistics into the national statistical system.
